Education

I began this journey at Northern Arizona University where I received my Bachelors of Science in Education with a minor in Biology.  Through out the many years that I have been teaching I have attended many many conferences.  My most recent was a trip to Chicago where I attended the PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports) conference.  I learned a lot and look forward to bringing some of the ideas I learned about to Lake View.

Experience

I started teaching in 1997.  I began my career as an emergency Special Education Teacher for students in a pull-out program.  I then moved over to Kindergarten where I stayed for the next 9 years.  I had the opportunity to teach at Desert View in the big kinder room, for those of you that were able to get that experience.  I team taught with a variety of teachers including quite a few years with Mrs. Knapp.  I then decided that I really wanted see what was happening up on First Grade.  My intention was to return to Kinder with a better understanding of where I needed to get them.  I however decided that I just loved First Grade and wanted to stay.  I stayed in First Grade for 10 years and loved every minute of it.  I met some amazing parents and the kids were so amazing.  During my First Grade years I made the move over to Lake View when they decided to reconfigured the schools.  I was very sad to leave my Desert View family behind, but I have definitely grown to love Lake View just as much.

I have now decided to make the move to 2nd Grade.  I am team teaching with Miss Montez-Dasler and we are having so much fun.  I cycled up with my last First Grade class and we are just movin' and grovin'.

I dearly love teaching.  Summer's for me are such a drag.  I just can't wait for school to start again.  I can't imagine myself doing anything else and truly love every minute of it.

I look forward to many more years at Second Grade or wherever the wind blows me.

Thanks so much for allowing me the opportunity to teach your children and having them in My School Family.
